OBSERVATION DES TORTUES MARINES

The 3 species to watch in French Guiana are: the olive ridley (smallest, 45 kg), the green turtle, and the famous leatherback (largest, up to 2.2 m long and 700 kg). Watching them is a magical experience, lasting from April to October, with the adult turtles first laying their eggs, followed a few weeks later by the emergence of the babies (around a hundred per nest) seeking their way to the ocean. Rémire, but also Hattes beach in Awala, are nesting sites. Please be respectful.
