A dynamic community, home to the Lafuma sporting goods company and the Jars ceramics factory. With just under 4,000 inhabitants, it is home to many historic monuments. The medieval church, built at the end of the 12th century, the Château du Cros, the Château de Saleton, a fortified house dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, La Béraudière and Les Blains, other fortified houses, and the remnants of the ramparts of Coinaud, a town said to have been founded in 1314, all remain. Finally, another ruined medieval castle, Mantaille, a former Carolingian residence, and the Saint-Jean museum are still visible.
