The village of Saint-Germain-de-Joux (500 inhabitants) is located in the cluse of Nantua in Bellegarde-sur-Valserine. It is crossed by the Semine and the Combet. This village can be a pleasant place for a lunch break or even to spend the night. There is a hotel-restaurant with a few rooms on the D1084, at the eastern end of the village. From here it is a short walk to the site known as the "Marmites de Géant". These are rocks sculpted by the water of the Semine which form several pools and small waterfalls. Nearby, the restored remains of the hydraulic installation of an old sawmill offer a bucolic landscape.
