Roquebrune was created at the beginning of the 11th century. It was built on a sandstone rocky outcrop, known as Roca Brun in Provençal, and owes its present name to it. Roquebrune was faced with the problem of transporting water, which was resolved in 1775 by renovating a Roman aqueduct. Thus the water flowed for the first time at the old fountain. Around the church there are many arcaded houses from the 16th century. The chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Pitié houses a beautiful gilded wooden altarpiece depicting a descent from the cross. The Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church, completed in the 16th century, contains a remarkable painting from the beginning of the 17th century framed by two altarpieces.
