The village of Aspres-sur-Buëch has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, as proven by the discoveries made in the caves of the Agnielles gorges. Long owned by the Counts of Die, the village was ceded to the Aix-Artaud de Montauban. At the beginning of the 20th century, Aspres benefited from the development of an industry that was in vogue at the time: the manufacture of natural ice. After being cut from the mountain glaciers, the ice was stored in ice houses that can still be seen at the northern exit of the town. Today, the fountain square, the castle, the 13th century church and the sundial are the main sights of the village.
