The National Theatre of Marseille, known as La Criée, opened in 1981, is located in a historic building of prime importance on the Old Port. Indeed, until 1976, the fish auction was held there. The Huveaune is one of the rivers that feed Marseille. His role was of primary importance and he was even divinized in the time of the Gauls.
