MÉMORIAL DE LA MARSEILLAISE
Read moreIn the Belsunce district, easily accessible by the T 2 or T 3 tram, Thubaneau Street is home to the Marseillaise memorial, recognizable by far by the great blue-white-white flag adorning its façade. Originally home to a palm play room in the seventeenth century, the place subsequently became a theater and then an Arab bath. It was in 1792 that the building became the seat of the Jacobins club, from which the Marseilles Federated, direction Paris for taking the Tuileries Palace. Their war song, that of the Rhine Army, will later become commonly known as the Marseillaise and our national anthem. The museum is centered around routes with images, multimedia archives and various recordings of the revolutionary song. A real success that we appreciate every visit. History but playful for those that the subject does not attract, well animated with its special effects, it will delight small and large. Opened in 2011, this unique historical interpretation center offers cultural activities and events as well as a wide selection of works and products in its boutique bookshop.

DENIS-DIDEROT HIGH SCHOOL
Read moreBuilt between 1985 and 1990 on the plans of Bui Quien Quoc, the construction uses very favourably the glass and light, to create a very well ventilated, airy architecture. The spacious building has a very contemporary aspect, with its iron staircases shaped by large tubes. The construction was not obvious because it was an extension of high school, which had a large field, and that it was not necessary to disturb the courses. The building contrasts in this western quarter of the city with towers.

ALEXANDER STATION
Read moreLocated in the th district, on the edge of the north-west districts, this former mill became a marshalling yard and was abandoned. Yet she hid an elegant structure, which is attributed to Gustave Eiffel. Supported by beautifully restored metal structures, this iron and glass structure retains its late th century character from pre-industrial times. In Marseilles, in the 80 s, a large campaign for the rehabilitation of former reporting buildings began. The Alexandre Station has benefited, such as the Auction, the Docks, La Wasteland Belle de Mai, the Silo Silo, etc. A safeguard in clean sites that continues with the positive will of the founder Sylvie Caulet, who is now upset by the bad image that the north quarters inspire. But Station Alexandre is also the world of outsourced culture, the business district nearby, trade, restoration, after work, etc. Enjoy contemporary facilities, this multi-tiered activity cluster welcomes employees of the company, management but also all curious visitors, small or large committees in restaurants (Bistrot Alexandre Il Barocco) or the bar bar (L'elf Café). All three have a classic homely soul, a modern post-modern charm, which often affects guests.

Between the scrubland, hills, breathtaking views of Marseille and the Marseilleveyre massif, you will enjoy a unique setting for a journey that lasts about an hour (do not forget the time of return before starting the climb). In the meantime, it will allow you an unforgettable walk. Choose the off-season.

Read moreWelcome to the heart of the Pagnol region, welcome to the small village of La Treille, now an integral part of the Marseille urban area. In the time of the Pagnols, we were here in the open countryside, we entered the majestic hills so well described by the Aubagnais author. In the village, discover the village square, its fountain (that of Manon des Sources), the restaurant Le Cigalon where Pagnol makes many films (including the eponymous film) or even a little further away, the house where Pagnol wrote the first lines of his childhood Memories. Continuing towards Allauch, you will even arrive at the Bastide neuve, the famous holiday bastide of the Pagnol family
THE CREEK
Read moreThe National Theatre of Marseille, known as La Criée, opened in 1981, is located in a historic building of prime importance on the Old Port. Indeed, until 1976, the fish auction was held there. In a Parisian-style and resolutely modernist hall, wholesalers sell their products to fishmongers who come to refuel. Built in 1855 to compensate for the narrowness of the previous auction, nestled in the old districts, this building still retains its characteristic facade today. Its conversion into a theatre is a real success. Don't pass here without taking a look at this industrial and commercial building that is so dear to Marseille's life in the past.

BIRD'S TRAIL
Read moreThe Huveaune is one of the rivers that feed Marseille. His role was of primary importance and he was even divinized in the time of the Gauls. The river originates in the Sainte-Baume massif and, according to legend, it is the tears of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine that would feed the river (she lived for more than 30 years in a cave on a massif). The section of interest to us here is located in the heart of the city and easily accessible from Michelet Boulevard. From there, you can head east towards Saint-Loup, on pleasantly equipped bike paths and walk along the river. To the south, you will reach the Prado beaches along a green and quiet path.
