Petit Futé's opinion on SORMIOU COVE

Vintage plate 2020

It is one of the best known, most beautiful and widest creeks in the region, accessible by car (except in summer) and on foot, from the car parks of Les Baumettes or La Cayolle. A real postcard whose beauty will never tire any Marseillais, it owes its reputation to its brilliant turquoise waters and its white sandy beach. The view from the heights is fantastic. It is visited by divers for its underwater beauties. There is a restaurant on site, a few cabins for rent and a supervised swimming area in the summer. It is therefore very crowded in the summer, especially by families who appreciate its infrastructure. The path on the right leads to Cape Sormiou, on the left to the small port of Sormiou. The more sporty among you will be able to practice a via cordata with a 4-hour excursion. Thrills with a zip line to reach the Capelan cave and a 15-metre abseiling descent to return to the cove. Kayak and paddle are also very easy to practice in Sormiou. We walk from the cove of Sormiou to the cove of Sugiton, passing through Morgiou. Hiring is possible from both points, and guided walks are offered. You can visit the Capelin Cave on foot or by swimming. If your heart is more inclined to dive, you can explore the Capelin Caves and the Gate of Rome. Finally, a clever plan for cyclists who will enjoy the road closed to cars in the summer. The pass is difficult but the reward is beautiful.
