Calanque de Sormiou visited by divers and families, with a white sandy beach with bright turquoise waters.

It is one of the best known, most beautiful and widest creeks in the region, accessible by car (except in summer) and on foot, from the Baumettes or La Cayolle parking lots. A real postcard whose beauty will never tire any inhabitant of Marseilles, it owes its reputation to its bright turquoise waters and its white sandy beach. The view from the heights is fantastic. It is visited by divers for its underwater beauties. There is a restaurant, a few cabañas for rent and a supervised swimming area in summer. As a result, it is very crowded during the summer season, especially by families who appreciate its facilities. The path on the right leads to Cap Sormiou, on the left to the small port of Sormiou. The most athletic among you can practice a via cordata with a 4-hour excursion. Thrills with a zip line to reach the Capelan cave and an abseiling of 15 meters to come back to the cove. Kayaking and paddling are also very easy in Sormiou. You can walk from the calanque of Sormiou to the calanque of Sugiton, passing by Morgiou. It is possible to rent a boat from both points, and a guided tour is offered. You can visit the Capelan cave on foot or by swimming. If your heart is set on diving, you can explore the caves of Capelan and Porte de Rome. Finally, a smart plan for cyclists who will enjoy the road closed to cars in summer. The pass is difficult but the reward is beautiful.
