Thoard comes from the Latin turris ardua which means high tower. It is the old fortified tower of the Saint-Blaise church, whose construction began before the 12th century, which gave it its name. Thoard, home of the sheep, is also famous for its excellent sausages. Dominated by the imposing bell tower of its 12th century church, picturesque streets lined with high stone houses wind their way through this small medieval town where you will discover old doors and typical wash houses. A leap into the past and a medieval atmosphere guaranteed for this real rampart at the entrance to the Alps that you will enjoy visiting.
