The Gaubretière or the Military Vendée Pantheon (massacre of 27 February 1794 during the wars of Vendée), etc. Located in the North-East vendéen, the municipality of La Gaubretière with an area of 2 952 hectares is part of the high bocage bocage near Maine-et-Loire and the Loire-Atlantique. The landscape is the one that one encounters in the upper Bocage with its hills, its hillsides, its numerous hedges and its streams draped in the bottom of the valleys. The Gaubretière is an old city inhabited for many years. Some remains report the traces of the man since prehistoric times (Roche Goat, Pierre lifted) and Gallo-Roman times (Roman Bridge). The commune, whose priest was squire, depended on the feudal time of the important Vicomté Vicomté. Some well preserved buildings remain witnesses to the Middle Ages  : Château du Vieux Landebaudière (late th century), Manoir manor house. The coat carved in a granite stone above the entrance gate of the Rectory (Jacques-Foresters Street) represents (according to the Departmental Archives)  : " an shield surmounted by a crown of baron, with two palmettes, door in the three-clover field, and a greyhound or wolf passing the tail in the air, with the date of 1673 ". This coat of arms was probably part of one of the coats of a priest. In fact, until the Revolution, the parish priests of La Gaubretière were lords of the village.
