This commune is home to a remarkable vegetable garden, a museum of Automatons that can be visited by appointment as well as the house-school where the writer Catherine Paysan was born, whose mother was a schoolteacher. The former school house of Aulaines has become a museum, notably open for the Heritage Days. Built in the 15th century, the Bonnétable castle, a neo-Gothic-style seigneurial house, was largely transformed in the 19th century and cannot be visited. Its estate housed, in the forest, an earthenware factory built in 1832 on the initiative of the Duchess of Montmorency, then owner of the premises. This factory, which supplied pottery to the whole region, closed its doors in 1912. Next to the former Hotel du Lion d'Or, you will not fail to admire the so-called Néo Normande (private) house, built in the 19th century and decorated with two wooden sculptures representing the owner (with the key) and the mistress of the house (with the broom). The Tuesday morning market brings a bit of animation to this quiet little town, as does the flavour market on Friday evening. The opportunity to go and greet, on the square, the statue of Melusine, protector of the town, which was installed in 2001.
