Sion-les-Mines, formerly Syon, is set on the dominant hillside of 25 m la Cher and Méguinel. He was encircled with forests (Domnech, Teillay) and ponds. The Romans settled in Domnech to exploit the very abundant iron ore with a flower of land and built a fortified camp later transformed into castle. In all the wetlands on the edge of the Cher grows a semi-aquatic plant, the ache that the Romans called sium and the Greeks pray. The first camp established on the Chère drew its name, mentioned in various acts well before the settlement of the village. Sion far from every city is peaceful in small rural communes. Iron mines employed a large workforce until the 1970 s, where their operations ceased to cease. The Coptic commune of many sites classified as historic monuments such as La Forge de la Hunaudière, Menhir de Briangault, the Beaverbrook Menhir at Midi, the Menhir of Pierre-Pine, the Menhir says Roche to the Bergère.
