VineyardThe Landreau's commune was recently created by a ministerial decree of 17 May 1865. to do this, the territory of Loroux-Bottereau was cut. But the parish of the Landreau existed well before the town and had many noble houses. In 1794, a young man, André Ripoche, was murdered by Republican soldiers. It is a local figure of the suffering that Le Landreau and surrounding municipalities have to endure after the March 1793 uprising. The calvary of Bas-Briacé also called "Cross André Ripoche" recalls this event. Today, Le Landreau has many wine-growers whose wines enjoy a reputation in France and abroad thanks to the finesse of its land. It was from the th century, when the country benefited from relative peace, that agricultural surfaces gradually increased. Subsequently, the vineyard expanded with red grape varieties originating in Burgundy and Bordeaux. The melon of Burgundy, a vine of muscadet, was introduced into these lands in the early th century. The big plant, whose vine is folle, comes straight from Charente and preceded its famous colleague, the Muscadet.
