On the Canche, this ancient city received counts of Saint-Pol in 1218, the title of commune. Nearby is a very nice seventeenth century, Cercamp castle. On the left bank, it was built on the location of a Cistercian monastery founded in 1137 and houses the grave of the counts of Saint-Pol. The architect of the castle is also the one who drew the plans of the abbey of Valloires.
