Located on the Monts de Lacaune, Murat-sur-Vèbre is nestled at an altitude of 900 m, on the road to Compostela. Agriculture, salting and craftsmanship keep this jewel set in the forest alive, which still retains many traces of its ancestral and spiritual history. In these valleys you will find the largest concentration of statue-menhirs in Europe, an accumulation that raises many questions. Many hiking trails start in Murat, but you can also visit the site of Boissezon-de-Masviel, dating back to the 10th century, of which only a tower remains, or the castle of Canac, which is in ruins, but is currently being restored.
