Founded on a plateau overlooking the river Thoré and the Montimont stream, the old town of Labruguière is in the form of an oppidum. The first written traces of its existence date back to 985, the city was then on the route of pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela. After the Hundred Years' War, the town flourished again between the end of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance thanks to the trade in woollen cloths sold throughout Europe. When visiting Labruguière, discover the Cardaillac castle, the 18th century market hall, the Saint-Thyrs church and the narrow streets lined with half-timbered and corbelled houses.
