In the 10th century, the commune was known as Castillon. It then took the name of Castillon-en-Fezensac, Castillon d'Armagnac or Castillon-de-Batz to finally become Castillon-Debats. This name comes from the castle occupied by the companion of Henry IV, Manaud de Batz. There remains of these many procrastinations an interesting heritage. The castle of Batz is part of it, as well as the mill of Musclade, the old houses, the church Saint Antoine or the vestiges of the ramparts or the ditches of the old castellum. Pleasant walks in the Mazous wood complete this charming tourist destination.
