Welcome to the commune of Cruxéens. What's that ? This is the name of the inhabitants of Sainte-Croix-Volvestre, a charming little village in the Couserans and Volvestre regions, with a population of 630, close to the border between the Ariège and the Haute-Garonne, but benefiting from the tourist and economic advantages of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park thanks to the richness of its natural heritage, which is classified as a "natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest". The local river is called the Volp and the village has a classified historical monument: the old fontevriste abbey (of the monastic order of Fontevraud).
