Between Épinal and Nancy, at the foot of a hill on the Côtes de Moselle, Charmes is located near the forest of the same name and is crossed by the Canal de l'Est and the Moselle. Its marina, green spaces and motorhome park attract tourists. The birthplace of Maurice Barrès, it is also the scene of historic events such as the signing of the treaty between Richelieu and Charles IV. The town abounds in monuments: the Saint-Nicolas church, the Savigny and Notre-Dame chapels, the Maison des Loups. Nearby, discover the chapel of a Knights Templar commandery, a museum of military art, and the Cristallerie de Portieux.
