Chamagne, land of peddlers and beavers, has a rich history. The former flourished from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, but have now disappeared. These itinerant peddlers travelled from village to village, selling trinkets, Epinal pictures and various products, while spreading news and legends. As for the beavers, they will captivate nature lovers along the rivers, especially for those with patience. Chamagne has been selected as a site for the reintroduction of the European beaver. The village is also renowned for having been the birthplace in 1600 of the painter Claude Gellée, nicknamed Claude le Lorrain.
