Vittel, whose origin is attributed by local tradition to the Roman general Vitelius, has always attracted people thanks to its cold springs. In 1854, the lawyer Louis Bouloumié, who came to Contrexéville for a cure, bought the Fontaine de Gérémoy in Vittel and had a small pavilion built there in 1856 for the first bottling plant. His property was soon to become the beginning of a thermal establishment. An architecture made of luxury and perfection, appears. The achievements of the great architects (among which Charles Garnier of the Paris Opera) made Vittel what it is today : a city of water and art
