Built in the th century at a crossroads, Fontenoy-la-Joûte was rebuilt around a overthrown «Y» in the th century. At the same time, the village was composed of adjacent misty trusses, attached to each other. The peasants lived in the winter in autarky, cattle, poultry, forage, food and wood at hand.
