With latitude of 42 ° 19 ' 972 North, Lamanère is officially the southernmost municipality of mainland France. Moreover, a blood and gold pole with arrows indicates the kilometres of the main sites of the Pyrenees such as the Canigó, Hendaye or Cap Creus. And in a more humorous way, to mark the fact that we're in rugby land, another pole shows the kilometer of the top ten rugby fields in the world. A small and quiet village, at 800 m above sea level, surrounded by a beautiful cycle of dormant mountains, between its two rivers the Taix and the Lamanère, Lamanère (La in Catalan) can serve as a starting point for pleasant excursions such as Notre-Dame-du-Coral or the towers of Cabrenç. The site consists of three buildings, two towers and one old residence, each on the top of a hill, and connected between them by a small trail. The towers are the work of the lords of Serralongue, who could guard against potential dangers. Over 1 300 metres above sea level, the view is exceptional in all directions. You can visit the tower of Cabrenç, just ask for the key to the town hall of Serralongue or the country bistro "Café de la Poste". From Serralongue it takes more than 2 hours and from Lamanère 1 h 30.
