The village of Les Plantiers, made up of a dozen hamlets, is surrounded by ridges known in the Cévennes as "serres": serre des Clapisses, serre de Borgne culminating at 1,066 m, serre des Tours... At La Hierle and Monteils, you can see tall houses running parallel to the slope, with their silkworm nurseries on the top floor. Mulberry trees grow everywhere on the terraces, and two old spinning mills still stand in the center of the village. The Romanesque church in the hamlet of Saint-Marcel-de-Fontfouillouse, perched at an altitude of 650 m amidst chestnut groves, is part of the Romanesque church circuit.
