BFC CHARACTER TOWN. Pesmes had a turbulent history, with various occupations before it became French in 1678. Its rich heritage includes the remains of a castle, the 13th-16th-century church of Saint-Hilaire and the homes of prominent citizens. Along the river Ognon, winegrowers' houses evoke the town's winegrowing past. To the north of this medieval village, in a place called "Les Forges", an old industrial complex, a metallurgical factory in the 17th and 18th centuries, a taillanderie at the end of the 19th century and a hydroelectric power station in the 20th century. Forgespesmes organizes various events to bring this heritage site to life.
