This rural commune was first mentioned in 1153 as the boundary between the county of Burgundy and the empire of Frederick Barbarossa. It borders Switzerland, on the road and rail links from Pontarlier to Neuchâtel via the Val de Travers in Switzerland. For a long time, it was dotted with hamlets and "lieux-dits". Here, you'll find the 18th-century church of Saint-Sébastien, topped by its characteristic Comtois bell tower. What's special here is that every year, two national holidays are celebrated with great pomp and ceremony: July 14th for France and August1st for Switzerland!
