You'll find Cléron in the Loue valley, a good fifteen minutes south of Besançon. It's a magical, peaceful place, even if legend has it that the commune's name comes from the sound of a musical instrument. The rectangular château, framed by its 4 towers, is accompanied by a former presbytery and several fountains. You'll also notice the bridge of the tacot, the regional train that is now the subject of a museum. Another must-see is the Perrin family's cheese dairy, where their Edel de Clairon cheese was born. A true standard-bearer for tourism, the Perrin family keeps the area alive with a restaurant and cheese museum.
