22 km southeast of Mezières by the D 925 and D 11.Located in the heart of the Brenne Natural Park, Meobecq has many ponds. The river Yohis arrose the territory of the commune. It is also traversed by the Great Hiking Trail of the Thousand Etangs. In the Middle Ages, Meobecq's territory was very wild and many mosquitoes were blowing there because of the stagnant waters of the wetlands. The place was cleared by Saint Cyran and his companions to establish a community. Saint Cyran may have been sent by King Dagobert. After the construction of a first monastery (probably built in wood with connections found on the spot), Saint Cyran left Brenne to start another religious establishment. The abbey based on the site of Méobecq prospers. The many fields, mills, ponds, vast wood, grain, game and wine contribute to this enrichment. Today you can admire the abbey Saint-Pierre, which dates from the eleventh century.
