Illiers-Combray, located 25 km southwest of Chartres. The town is a high-level literary getaway for visitors from all over the world. She keeps the most captivating memories of the author of the search for lost time. Homage to the writer who describes in his work «A search for lost time» the city of his childhood under the name «Combray». Marcel lives with his parents in the capital, but their stay will be frequent in Illiers, until the age of 10. The station opened in 1876 facilitates visits to Elizabeth, the sister of the father of Adrien, married to Jules Amiot, who lives at No. 4, rue du Saint-Esprit. Marcel's grandparents held a grocery store in the village. Their ties are therefore strong for the region. Elizabeth's granddaughter, the "Aunt Léonie" of the novel, donated the house to the Society of Friends of Marcel Proust and friends of Combray. In this residence, a museum is dedicated to the writer. It is at Pre Catelan that the family will enjoy nature on the edge of the Loir, a garden created by Jules Amiot. In the countryside, the castles of Tansonville and Villebon under the pen of Marcel deserve a detour.
