OF PATIOS

Guided tours

Ignacio, at the head of this agency, proposes the discovery of 5 of the most famous patios in Córdoba, in the Alcazar Viejo district, 5 minutes from the mosque. The visit consists of a self-guided itinerary during which, equipped with a map, you will pass from one patio to another by ringing at the doors of the owners who will be pleased to welcome you to their real little floral museum. The duration of the visit is about 50 minutes. You can book online or by visiting us directly on site. Some of the staff are French-speaking.

OROBAILEN

Guided tours

A visit to this finca in the Sierra Norte will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of exceptional olive aquaculture since this casa del aguhas also houses an almazara, a oil mill. It will also be an opportunity to know the quite impressive route of the Gálvez González family, which, after drawing its road in the building, has more than succeeded in its conversion to the production of top quality oils, regularly award winning in Spain and abroad. During an extremely pedagogical visit, you will learn everything about different types of olives, and about selection and treatment processes. And you can of course taste and learn to recognize the different oils. The shop will allow you to shop and test the oil-based marmalade or oil pearls used by the chefs of the region.

PLAZA DE TOROS DE LA MALAGUETA (BULLRING)

Monuments to visit
4.4/5
5 reviews

Rather classical, they date from the th century and present the Taurin museum Antonio Ordónez. The first bullring of the city were built at the end of the th century near the convent of the. They were in wood, as were the many following, in the heart of a neighbourhood close to the harbour, where there were wine warehouses of the famous Heredia society. Historians report that this taurin building was destroyed for fear of fire. Plazas built afterwards did not, however, make a long fire. In 1849, the new arrival was installed near the convent of San Francisco, now extinct. The arenas were stone and could accommodate 12 000 spectators, and their owner demolished them in 1864 for dark political reasons. A new plaza is built, near the sea, with the possibility of welcoming more than 9 000 spectators, this time is the right one, the plaza de la Malagueta was born, and opened in 1876, with a bullfighting of Murube for Antonio Carmona El Gordito, and Lagartijo, the stars of the moment.

ALCAZABA

Military monuments
4.2/5
5 reviews

It is the main tourist attraction of Almería. After the Alhambra of Granada, it is the largest of the citadels built by the Arabs in the Iberian Peninsula and probably one of the most beautiful Andalusian fortresses because of its construction and its location on a hill from where you can superbly overlook the whole city, the medina and the modest district of La Chanca with its colourful facades. Looking at the Mediterranean horizon from the towers, we can better understand why the city became the most important sea exit from Al-Andalus. The Alcazaba was built by Abd al-Rahman III in 955, transformed and enlarged by Al-Mansur and then by Hayran, the first independent Emir of Almeria. It has three enclosures, two of Muslim design and a third of Christian origin. It was abandoned in the 19th century and restored in 1950. The visit of the first enclosure allows you to cross a whole area of very pleasant gardens with fragrant plants. In total, the tour includes 19 points that will introduce you to the Casa del Alcalde, built at the beginning of the 20th century by Prieto Moreno as a romantic tribute to the Alhambra, as well as Muslim casas reconstructed to evoke their domestic aspect and permanent exhibition sites. Both are located in the second enclosure and next to it you will find something to refresh yourself. Allow two hours for this visit. It can be completed by an ascent to the hillside of San Cristobal, the best viewpoint in the city.

PLACE ALAMEDA DE HÉRCULES

Street square and neighborhood to visit
4/5
7 reviews

The place de la Alameda de Hércules is an undeniable promenade in Seville. Alameda means «walk». Hercules, for his part, would be according to legend the founder of the city. We owe this place to the Count of Barajas who, in 1574, planted deciduous trees and built beautiful fountains on ancient marshy lands. He had erected two columns from the Roman temple of rue Mármoles, which were crowned with sculptures by Julius Caesar and Hercules. The other two columns, with lions bearing a shield, were formed in the second half of the eighteenth century. Today, the Alameda is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Seville thanks to its bars and cafés that encircle the square. Its bohemian atmosphere makes it unique.

PLAZA DE VAZQUEZ DE MOLINA

It is the center of the historic quarter, a sumptuous Renaissance square that is a bit shaded by the rest of the city as it concentrates architectural wonders. Most of the buildings in the xvie th base surrounding this square are the work of Andres de Vandelvira, the architect of Jae 'n's caesales and Baeza and many other churches in both cities. Ayuntamiento (city hall) is located in the palace of Las Cadenas owned by Philippe II. In the square is the Sacra Capilla del Salvador built by Vandelvira. Although the original plans are awarded to Diego de Siloe ' (architect of the cathe's church of Granada and Ma' laga), it is the most remarkable church in the city of Úbeda, especially because of its magnificent retable of the Transfiguration.

CAC - CENTRO DE ARTE CONTEMPORANEO DE MALAGA

2 reviews

A recent cultural initiative of the town hall of Málaga (whose building is baroque, in passing, by Guerrero Strachan), the project is new to Spain in the sense that it combines the management of a private enterprise with the ideals and ambitions of the public framework. Based on the German model of the Kunsthaus, characterised by its dynamism, this centre of contemporary art is a large white space that takes place in a former market of wholesalers at the mouth of the Río Río. Temporary and permanent exhibitions dress this place to discover, having bookstore and coffee.

WALLS

Surrounding the entire city, they were intended to protect it from both land and sea attacks. They were partially destroyed at the beginning of the century. The famous Puertas de Tierra are still visible: these towers were built between 1639 and the mid-18th century. Vauban, who created the defensive system of Cádiz, reinforced it with several forts and bastions, some of which can still be seen (the castles of San Sebastián and Santa Catalina, the latter of which can be visited). Even today, parks and gardens enhance the stroll along the seafront with the Parque del Genovés or the Alameda Apodaca.
