NUÑEZ DE PRADO

Olive oil producer

Since 1795 (seven generations), the patriarchal company produced among the best olive nectars in Spain, its flor of aceite (nectar nectar in the pretty bottle sealed and numbered) is the reference of the brand that exports to Asia, particularly Japan, its main buyer for use in cosmetics. This pioneer Casa de Labranza, with Olive, is visiting with Paco Nuñez de Prado: The pick-up is done by hand, the mill facilities retain a traditional oil mill and a form of storage in the Roman. In addition to the possibility of buying its extra virgin oils in a small shop, the right address allows you to participate, on reservation (at least 20 people), to tasting and delicious thematic meals based, of course, on home productions.

LA CALENTERIA

Bakery
5/5
1 review

This historic Calentaría , located at Puerta de la Carne, has been a meeting point and a hub of life in the neighbourhood since 1860. To understand its longevity and popularity, you only have to look at the queue in the morning, which includes regular and loyal customers, as well as well-informed tourists. Here, they pride themselves on serving porras, made with oil and not margarine, and worked with a "syringe". You can take them away, or enjoy them on one of the nearby terraces. With or without chocolate. We recommend it.

CAFÉTERIA ALHAMBRA - CHURRERIA

Considered one of the best churrerias in Granada, it is almost always full. Its location on the Bib Rambla square is certainly a factor, but not the only one. The portions of churros, porras to be exact, are quite copious, but tasty as you wish and accompanied by the thick chocolate, as we like it. Total, you'll have to elbow your way inside and deal with the noise that comes with success, otherwise the large terrace is waiting for you.

ACEITES DE CABRA

Olive oil producer

Capricho andaluz, an oil from the hojiblanca variety with herbal notes, or Dominio de la Esperanza, from the picuda variety with intense fruity notes, are just a few examples of the oils offered by the Aceites de Cabra association, which brings together five producers from this municipality where olive trees occupy almost two-thirds of the land (around 18,000 ha out of 23,000). Presented in an attractive black box, they are ideal for garnishing a gourmet basket or giving as a gift to friends, but not without a tasting session beforehand.

LAS BODEGAS JESUS NAZARENO

Wine Cellar Wine House

Founded in 1963, this former bodega traditionally produces wines with the Montilla-Moriles appellation. If you visit, you'll be able to follow the winemaking and selection processes at every stage, ending, of course, with a tasting. As this winery is something of an institution in the town, it has also set up a small museum with photos and posters tracing its history and that of the grape harvest.

PANADERÍA CASILDO

Patisserie

A recommended gourmet stop in this bakery-pastry shop created in 1944 and now run by the third generation. Especially for these delicious cakes, including the latest innovation, the very light three-chocolate cake. You will also find the traditional Piononos or millefeuilles with meringue, chocolate, turrón and even Kinder. Of course, she's always a little busy, but we can sit down and wait a little while.

A large shopping area and a few small tables to sit and enjoy, this is the right place to discover the city's star cake, the rosco. Made here in a traditional way, it is a kind of sponge cake in the shape of a crown, covered with a thin white meringue layer. To be enjoyed without moderation and also to be taken away in pretty little iron boxes in white and blue colours.

MARCHÉ COUVERT DE TRIANA

Market
4.3/5

This is THE market in Seville where you should go shopping, but also stroll around to admire the many stalls and eat at one of the many points provided for this purpose. Opened in 2001 and located on the remains of the Castillo San Jorge, seat of the Inquisition court, it is rightly renowned for the quality of its products (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, dried fruit, spices, wine, etc.), as it is one of the best-stocked in the city. And it is here that everyone comes, Trianeros and Sevillians alike, to buy their supplies.

MERCADO CENTRAL ATARAZANAS

Market
4.5/5
4 reviews

In the north of the Alameda Main, the central market (opened in 1879) retains a marble door from the nazarie era, when the place was a naval workshop, hence the provenance of its atarazanas name meaning "arsenal". Completely renovated (in 2008-2010), it became a little wonder in the morning. On Calle Atazarana, small bars, like the Cartuchito allow to eat fried fish. We are not getting away from it.

Just a stone's throw from Plaza Cristo de Burgos, this convent, still inhabited by Poor Clares, is famous for its buns(bollitos), the recipe for which was bequeathed by the convent's founder, as well as its doughnuts(pestiños), cakes made with eggs, sugar, flour and lemon or anise(cortadillos), and cakes (tortas). You can also visit its Gothic-Mudejar church, where you can see its main altarpiece, in Baroque style (17th century), as well as a neoclassical altarpiece dedicated to St. Bas, made by Juan de Mesa in 1617.

In this monastery, the Poor Clares make deliciousyemas (a kind of flan made with eggs and sugar) and tortas de aceite(a cake made with wheat flour, olive oil and sesame). You can find their cakes in several stores in town, but they are cheaper at the convent... You will also have the opportunity to visit this convent, whose magnificent main altarpiece, located in its church, is a baroque work from the 18th century, created by Duque Cornejo and Felipe Fernández del Castillo.

SANDEMAN

Wine Cellar Wine House
2.5/5

Near the School of Equestrian Art, you will appreciate the architecture of its farming cellars and explanations about the history, manufacture, grape varieties, few photos people of visitors (Antonio Banderas and others)… and, of course, final tasting before the passage into the shop (fino, moscatel, amontillado, Pedro Ximénez, brandys and various accessories). Visits to wineries can be carried out in French (in week at 14 p. m.) by a delicious Andalusian youth. The mark created by a Scots in 1790 is authenticated by the famous "gift". A black cape, it is a kind of Zorro of Sherry, wearing Portuguese cape and Andalusian hat, good compromise between the two activities in Porto and Jerez de Sandeman.

MARCHÉ DE LA ENCARNACIÓN

Located opposite the plaza de la Encarnación, where the old market dating from 1842 (Seville's oldest) once stood, this new covered market was built in 2010, in parallel with the construction of Seville's Setas. Today, this market of almost 2,200 m² offers everything a market can offer: fresh fish and seafood, fruit and vegetables, cheeses, charcuterie... Prices are as attractive as those charged in the Triana market hall, if not a little cheaper.

QUITAPENAS

Wine Cellar Wine House

On the way to the airport, it is one of the heavyweights of local production. This winery, founded in 1880 and producing the famous Málaga wines, also has at least five renowned and lively taverns in the heart of the city centre (Pasaje Chinitas, 2, Calle Sánchez Pastor, 2, Calle Angel, 1, Calle Villafuerte, 2 or Calle Marín García, 4), where you can taste the sweet wines, sitting on high stools and sitting at tables with barrels, accompanied by tapas, fried fish and fresh seafood. Good value for money overall.
