THE FOUNTAIN OF THE FOUR SEASONS

Fountains to see

Edmée Bouchardon sculpted her between 1739 and 1747, one of the few fountains erected in the first half of the th century. The three main statues are allegorical figures of the City of Paris situated between the Seine and the Marne. The Four seasons are represented in the side niches of the fountain. The triangular pediment, decorated with a crown of laurel, was originally a rehaussé of the weapons of France.

PAUL LANDOWSKI GARDEN MUSEUM

Specialized museum

Paul Landowski is a familiar figure in Boulogne, where he settled on Max-Blondat street in 1905 - until his death in 1961. Grand Prix of Rome in 1900, then director of the Académie de France (Villa Médicis), his house and workshop were destroyed but the current museum was constituted by the artist's family, thanks to donations to the City of Boulogne-Billancourt in 1982, on the same location. Statues and statuettes, models of great monuments and other drawings illustrate the career of the internationally known sculptor.

THE MUSEUM OF SAINT-MAUR-DES-FOSSES

General museum

The museum has nothing in common with the Académie de France in Rome, despite what its nickname "Villa Médicis" might imply: this appellation was given in 1854 to the small castle (built in the th century), in tribute to the Queen of France, Catherine de Médicis, who briefly inhabited the castle of Saint-Maur during the th century.

A beautiful collection of paintings, sculptures, engravings and decorative arts from the th to the st century.

CUSTOM BRIGADE

Guided tours

The Custom Brigade movement organizes a tour in Paris every second Friday of the month bringing together owners of custom bikes. The courses, different each time, last about three hours, including pause. Note that these very convivial hikes between 30 and 80 people have the particularity to count on their motorcade, the "boombox", a trailer that broadcasts music, and the "foodbox" which provides food during the break.

AFM

Visit science and technology

Small morning. The sky is blue, but the mists stretch over the green spaces and curling around the buildings. We are in Evry-sur-Seine, a city that has attracted important scientific research institutions in aeronautics, aeronautics and medical research. Moreover, we are just steps from Génopole in Evry, the first French biotechnology campus. The French association against the myopathies is located just off the metro, at the end of a small walkway paved with white slabs that winds between the buildings and the buildings of the research companies. This is a visit not to be missed if you ask questions about genetics and diseases that can be traced to a mistake in the genome map, commonly called, orphan diseases. Of the 6 000 to 8 000 rare diseases, including 200 neuromuscular diseases, 80% are of genetic origin. 30 million people are affected in Europe, including 3 million in France (about 5% of the French population - of the 65 million). In addition, this visit is only offered once a year on the occasion of the "Discover Essonne Companies" operation. Adjacent to the lobby, an exhibition gallery invites the visitor to discover the history of the AFM through explanatory panels rich in photos and texts. The guide makes us first a presentation of the company and its missions. Created in 1958 and recognized as a public utility since 1976, the mission of the AFM is to find a therapeutic solution to neuromuscular diseases, through research and especially research into gene therapies. In the short term, the MFA aims to improve the daily lives of patients by promoting better access to care and better social accompaniment. In 2008, EUR 35,5 million was spent on aid activities for sick and families by the AFM. The visit offers a route from the DNA bank and its collection, culture, mining and storage rooms. Everything is explained and the visitor comes out of the premises more fully than before entering.

Counsel: Keep the guide (or your smartphone or smartphone) you hold in your hands, because the city's tourist office sees its schedules change every day! Once this small element is in mind, we do not regret a detour over here, all the information is given and, quite rare enough, the office is behind several annual events in the city, starting with a nice brocany for example.

MUSÉE DU FROMAGE

Look out for the opening of the Musée Vivant du Fromage in Paris on June 3, 2024. At last, some would say, this gastronomic heritage will be celebrated at the height of its worldwide reputation. You'll have to wait a little longer to discover the museum (at the time of writing), but we can tell you that it will be divided into 3 distinct sections: first, cheese culture, then cheese making, and finally cheese tasting. Open Tuesday to Sunday, the ticket office is already open!

THE ANTONY ALMOND TREE

Street square and neighborhood to visit

We sometimes go near places, things or images loaded with history without even noticing it… this is the case of this amandier, so dear to the inhabitants of the city, and who would have been planted from Napoleon's time. Splendid during its flowering, covered with white flowers, this tree is the only vestige of the orchard of a property of the executive style. From 1896 to 1940, the home belonged to the family of Mr. Fayet de La Tour, an assistant curator at the National Library. The new town hall of Antony is now on this site.
