Bassin Soufflot fountain by Gabriel Davioud, with a remarkable bronze statue, a must-see in Paris.
The Bassin Soufflot, also known as the "Bassin Pastoral", is located at the junction of Rue Soufflot and Boulevard Saint-Michel. From this landmark, you have a striking view of the Panthéon and the Luxembourg Gardens. The work is enthroned in the middle of the crossroads and seems to rise triumphantly above the traffic. The fountain was installed in 1862 when the Boulevard Saint-Michel was built. Designed by Gabriel Davioud, it was joined in 1884 by a charming bronze statue by George-Adolphe Crauk.
