It is taken from a Norman legend nearly a thousand years old, that of Raoul and Mathilde, whom Marie de France immortalized in a poem in 1160. Between the two lovers, love then, but to win the hand of the beautiful, poor Raoul must climb the famous hill that today bears the name of the Two Lovers. As for the brewery, it is a young craft business nestled in the loops of the Seine.

LA BESTIOLE

Craft brewery and microbrewery

What's the link between a bug and a brewery? A passion: for animals and for the art of brewing beer. Passionate, the owner and brewer knows her stuff. You can enjoy a fruity beer of between 3 and 8% alcohol in the tape room (bar area), with a direct view of the vats. You can also take away some pretty labeled cans (with animals on them, of course). And if you want to know everything there is to know about the beer-making process, we recommend a visit, which of course ends with a tasting.

BIÈRES DE MONTMORILLON

Craft brewery and microbrewery

Did you know that the Montmorillon brewery dates back to 1843? It was located in Saulgé and its beer was the best-selling beer in Free France during the German occupation before closing in the 1960s. In 2015, it was the entrepreneur François Guillon who decided to give the Montmorillonnais their beer back by brewing on site. He has not managed to get his hands on the original recipe, but he hopes to give it back its letters of nobility. From now on, the brewery produces artisanal and organic beer, as well as lemonade and cola.

The Rhine brewery claims to be Elsasser bier, an Alsatian beer. 100% pure malt, it is made with local products (from the Haut-Rhin and Bas-Rhin) and brewed on the one hand in Thierenbach (monthly production of 900 litres) and now next to Mulhouse (monthly production of 5,000 litres). You can therefore taste the production as soon as it has matured with the two draught beers offered for tasting. The schedules are not fixed, it is not uncommon to find the door open earlier in the week and during the day. It seems that drinking beer increases life expectancy by ten years (with a certain moderation), so it would be wrong to deprive yourself!

Of the Cervoiseries there are 22 in the hexagon, that of Limoges extends over a large space in front of Troc.com. At the controls or rather at the zippers of this temple of beer, Yannick and Antoine, two friendly and dynamic young friends make us discover the foam under a Maous aspect. More than 300 varieties await us, Belgian, German, Czech and traditional beers, etc. By tasting a different beer every day, you can last a whole year! White, blond, amber, brown, you can see them in all colours. We discover them in cans or under pressure, there are four of them and it often changes. The Cervoiseries even asked the Caulier brewery (the one that makes the famous Peace God) to create their own beer for them: the triple Rivoise, excellent! And if you are a novice you can ask for advice, that's what the bosses are there for. As an aperitif, you can accompany your cervoise with sausage or Chimay cheese. You can also take them with you, the house is also a beer cellar where you can fill your basket by picking from among the many crates placed here and there. We also took a soft look at the three dozen whiskies in front of the bar. Big Peat, Dalmore, Redbreast, Nikka, and many others, as well as excellent rums very selected will not fail to titillate the taste buds of connoisseurs. It should be noted that these beers, alcohols, but also logoted glasses are declined in gift ideas in the form of boxes and tasting baskets. Theme evenings (quiz, sport, tasting of local products).
