The Benedictine people of Maguelone were the first to plant vines on the estate in 1229. Subsequently, from the th to the th century, the Roque family, the family name of the castle, cultivates the vine and develops the craft crafts. In September 2006, Jacques Figuette settled on a land of course shaped as an amphitheatre, which promotes a mature maturity of mourvèdre, syrah and Grenache. The three colours are: red and rosé, under the appellation-du-Languedoc cru-Saint-Loup. To discover: in red the Cuvée Numismae 2005, high 18 months in the barrel, very deep, with persistent notes of wood fruits, also spent on wood, the white Cuvée Clos des Benedictine.

Situated on 12 hectares of sun-drenched schist slopes, Jérôme Rateau's vineyard is ideally suited to producing elegant wines. Since 2007, he has been producing ruby-red wines with aromas of red fruits and spices. AOP Faugères grape varieties such as Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault are used to produce reds and rosés. Some cuvées, aged in oak barrels, have excellent ageing potential. La Ferme Biterroise gathers about fifteen farmers offering their products, respecting the principles of sustainable or organic agriculture. Fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meats, poultry, juices, terrines, breads, wines, cheeses, oils, cookies are sold in short circuit by the producers themselves. Since its opening in 2010, this store has been a pioneer in the direct sale of local products. In the Edo family, we meet passionate people who raise bees to offer delicious honeys entirely local and from the family production. Sensitive to its environment, the Edo family pollinates local crops with hundreds of beehives installed around the Thau basin and its surroundings. In jars, one discovers a beautiful diversity of honeys with textures, colors and perfumes which vary between the honey of lavender, scrubland, rosemary and heather, sunflower, chestnut tree..

An address to be treasured, this large store celebrates good products with quality and a smile. Behind the scenes, Frédéric Crespin keeps an eye on things and communicates his dynamism to his teams. In the store, there is an embarrassment of riches to choose from among the 450 products, the pastry shop, the cheese shop, the butcher's shop, the delicatessen and the catering area. Every day, a dozen vegetable-based starters and as many fish or meat dishes are cooked here, using seasonal products and traditional French recipes.

Jean-Pascal Pelagatti, a young winegrower based in Béziers, produces white, rosé and red wines on his 24-hectare family estate. Using integrated farming methods, he produces mainly IGP Oc and IGP Coteaux de Béziers. The wines are fine and well-balanced, especially the reds. The vineyard, certified HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale), attracts quality wine lovers. It's a "coup de coeur" in the Guide Hachette des vins 2020. The Saint-Chinian cooperative winery, founded in 1937, is run by a hundred passionate winegrowers. Since 2013, it has been combining exceptional cuvées with works by contemporary artists, an original concept called l'Art en Cave. Great names in art have already collaborated on this project, including painter Laura Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, and Breton artist Eric Fleury in 2019. The paintings created on the vats are reproduced on the vintage bottle labels. A combination of art and wine that we love!

As the locals know, Cabiron is synonymous with gourmet delights. Gérard Cabiron's colorful store is located in the center of town, perpendicular to Rue de la Loge. Inside, the 2007 Meilleur Ouvrier de France showcases his ice cream and pastry collections. While his ice creams and chocolates win over the onlookers, it's his macaroons that are the icons and indestructibles of the house. Available in savory and sweet versions, they are well-balanced and come in an infinite variety of flavors, as well as fruit concentrates. We can't get enough!

The Miellerie du Salagou, built in 1989, is a must for beekeeping enthusiasts and the curious. Guided tours, exhibitions, projections, an active glass hive... everything is provided to discover this insect essential to our environment. In addition to raising awareness, the Miellerie offers a wide range of bee-related educational activities, as well as creative and culinary workshops. The visit ends with a tasting session, which makes you want to drop into the store to buy some regional products.

The Canal du Demi-La Gorge Fraîche craft brewery stands proudly on the banks of the Canal du Midi. Installed in a former sugar refinery, the bar-boutique with its industrial atmosphere offers an ideal break to discover the full range of beers of the place. The white beer tickles with its notes of spices and citrus fruits, the blond one has a beautiful golden color, while the amber one delights the taste buds with its caramelized flavors. The managers also offer for sale the wines of friends and spirits of the region.

Aucels is an excellent brewery from the Hérault region with an owl as its logo. This Bedarcian beer is a real delight in the mouth, with a surprising lightness, whatever the color of its dress. Lemonades and artisanal sodas are also produced. The premises have been renovated and the visitor can see the tanks that house the golden nectar. The prices in the store are very affordable, the service is warm and the team of enthusiasts is full of original ideas, such as the brewing courses starting in March and the rental of taps.

Created in 1932, this large vineyard covers 2,400 hectares and brings together 350 winegrowers. Today, this wine cooperative is a world reference, and its wines are frequently awarded. While the majority of sales are exported, there are three cellars in the Hérault region: one in Mèze, another in Pomérols and a third in Pignan, just outside Montpellier. They feature over 40 references, including four different qualities of Picpoul-de-Pinet.

Domaine de la Barthe, in the Eychenne family since the early ^20th century, was taken over by Yves and Viera in the 1960s. This estate, formerly dedicated to vineyards, has been exclusively devoted to olive growing since 1999, after its takeover by Anne Purseigle in 1979. The famous varieties of olives from Languedoc such as Olivière, Picholine and Lucques are produced on a soil that is favourable to the traditional cultivation of the olive tree, rich in ancient garrigues and stony clay-limestone soils. He works in organic agriculture to produce a beautiful range of sweet and dry muscats, rosés and carthagens, reds, light whites, sparkling wines, marc alcohol... In his store with its beautiful grocery cupboards, you will find all the delicacies of the area: wine of course, but also olive oil, juices and syrups, cookies, honey, jams... As a bonus, you can rent a charming trailer for the night on the estate or privatize the reception room for events.

It was while tasting the nearby Cuvée du Patron that we discovered this winemaker, who raises reds, rosés and whites in the heart of the Saint-Chinian appellation's schists, both bottled and in bulk. We liked the Andréus cuvée, a fine blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah and Carignan. It's a generous, full-bodied wine with aromas of ripe fruit. The property stretches along the banks of the Orb, on the lands of the former ^12th-century priory of Saint-André-de-Vexos. Vines were first cultivated here in 1850. A great address!

Beekeepers, Bernard and Anne-Lise sell a wide range of products: about fifteen different honeys, gingerbread, mead, wax, honey vinegar... Since 2002, the independent winegrower Céline Michelon has been making the Mas de Bayle, a family property of 20 hectares, live. Her Montpellier sandstone or AOC Languedoc vines grow on clay-limestone soils with a Mediterranean climate and its sea breeze. Cinsault, syrah, mourvèdre, grenache, carignan, roussane and vermentino: its local and traditional production now includes a range of six wines - white, rosé and red - each with three grape varieties, thus favoring blends. A gite at the estate is also available.

The vines of the Domaine d'Hondrat benefit from both the sea breeze blowing from the Mediterranean and the wind coming from the north. This wine estate has belonged to the Vigroux family since 1891, and five generations have succeeded one another to reach 80 ha today. The vineyard extends over clay-limestone and gravel soils, part of which is classified as AOP coteaux-du-languedoc and IGP pays-d'oc. On the edge of the Cévennes, Virginie and Nicolas have taken over the Aux Petits Sabots farm with great care. At the head of a micro-herd in which one or two foals are born each year, the couple uses the milk of the mothers in the production of soaps and cosmetics. The donkeys, which stay a good year with their young, are milked by hand. This fresh milk is mixed with other natural raw materials to produce a finished product: soap, face cream, body milk, shower shampoo with moisturizing and soothing properties.

A guarantee of quality and unanimously recognized, the Pic Saint Loup appellation is highly prized by connoisseurs of Languedoc wines. This estate is the largest in the appellation, headed by Régis Valentin, a passionate winemaker who patiently raises vintages made from Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Viognier grapes. This terroir, which is difficult to grasp, produces well-balanced vintages, where the fruit is exalted and the typicity is very particular. The result lives up to expectations: a beautiful range of red and rosé pic-saint-loup and white coteaux-du-languedoc that pays tribute to the terroir that shapes them. Véronique and Michel Garcia welcome you to Chez Eliane, a family market garden and tree farm where they sell seasonal fruit and vegetables. You will be able to buy directly on the spot: peaches, apricots, cherries, figs, melons, plums, table grapes, apples, but also asparagus, tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, potatoes. Tasting is free and Véronique and Michel can be found on the local markets: Thursdays and Sundays in Mèze, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in Sète and Sunday mornings at the Antigone market in Montpellier.

The 12-hectare Clos Centeilles family estate is a veritable treasure trove of winemaking expertise. With 23 grape varieties planted and 13 cuvées produced, Patricia Boyer-Domergue and her daughter Cécile are committed to preserving forgotten indigenous grape varieties. Their artisanal, hand-crafted approach gives their wines a rare authenticity. The Syndicat AOC Languedoc is housed in the Maison des Vins du Languedoc in Lattes. The vines of Château Coujan are planted on hillsides at an altitude of 140 m, on a terroir of sandstone gravel, north of Béziers. Florence Guy vinifies and raises Saint-Chinian, Coteaux du Languedoc and local wines. For the summer we recommend the cuvée tradition A.O.C. Saint-Chinian, 99% mourvèdre and 1% cinsault, a fruity rosé with notes of red fruits. A first cold-pressed olive oil from Château Coujan extends the original production range of Château Coujan.
