The pastries make your head spin and the madeleines, the shop's flagship product - especially in Cabourg - keep their promise. An emblematic house on the Norman coast, this Dupont "avec un thé" is well established in several cities on the coast, Cabourg, Deauville, Trouville and Dives-sur-Mer, with an undeniable success. In 1990, Jean-Pierre Etienvre, meilleur ouvrier de France, refined the brand and made it a must for all the sweet tooth. The creations are bold, fine and delicious. Certainly, a hot chocolate or a pastry at four o'clock at Dupont's, in the small room on the ground floor, or in the largest one on the first floor, is not cheap. Indeed, the company, born in 1929, knows many celebrities, to whom it dedicates most of its creations. You will find Antoine de Caunes pie, Karl Zéro or Emma cake (De Caunes, too). When you enter this boutique, a benchmark established in 1978, you're greeted by the sweet smell of yesteryear... All the pastries and confectionery you can imagine. On the shelves, nothing but goodness and quality. A well-known and recognised pastry and chocolate shop, where the Easter and Christmas transitions are brilliantly staged. We also love the candy aisle, where you can rediscover candy canes. Don't leave without the famous Houlgatais (large or small), the house speciality, a perfect blend of meringue and old-fashioned praline. It's all we can say!

The beautiful effect starts with the appearance of the shop. Chocolate tones have an imposing wooden furniture, harmoniously designed by a clever light game, and the appetite for sweets has no difficulty in coming. Then the pleasure of tasting. The macaroons in mind (attention they are not in self-service!), fall into several perfumes: traditional chocolate and raspberry, at the most surprising verbena-lavender, which has our preference. But, of course, you can enjoy other homemade specialities, such as torchettes, or almond patties, just as delicious.

At the Petit Futé, we like this bakery: artisanal production, organic bread with natural leaven, Olivier Gestin knows how to delight our taste buds with tasty recipes. From the traditional to the corn baguette and the country loaf, it's not easy to decide. Come in and you'll surely succumb! Even for lunch, the choice will be difficult! And we are delighted to see it open on Saturday mornings, perfect for the little munchies when you get out of the pool!

Welcome to Grignette heaven! This miniature bread speciality, savoury or sweet, is as its name suggests, for nibbling at any time of day. Try the brasillé recipe, you won't be able to do without it! A loyalty card is available for the bread: once full, you get a free Tradition! In both the bakery and the patisserie, everything is fresh and tasty; the Courchevel, for example, is to die for. You'll also find a wide selection of sandwiches, quiches and drinks for lunch on the go.

Located on rue Saint-Jean, as indicated by its name (please note, don't mistake it, it's the last right by going to the bridge), this pastry bakery actually reserves some delights, as its name also indicates. Start with bread: if you like cereals, the norlander is to test absolutely (it looks like vollkornbrot, but less compact). Chopsticks, cereals or simple versions are also excellent: It would be a wish! Another wonder: the macaroons (certainly in the top three of the best in Caen!). On the pastry side, even if you don't play the card of refinement with regard to aspects, it's tasty and the little touch of the "homemade has its charm". All served with a smile, a kind word and sometimes, often even, a complimentary chouquette for the road. We want more!

A very good address held by two young passionate friends, Louis and Vincent put their heart into it with organic ingredients and a lot of brio! An oven, a kneading trough, leavening, a turn of hand and here is a nice range of special breads (Nordique, Richemond, Graines de copains) and pastries that will delight your taste buds! As for pastries, we focus on sobriety with classics (éclairs, seasonal tarts...). And we don't forget the small hungers with sandwiches and coffee!

What a gem! Vivien Le Sénéchal took over this bakery two years ago and remodelled it in his own image, whether it be the decor or the products and their quality. Here everything is fresh and homemade, from the mayo to the chicken cooked on the spot to the salted butter caramel. We recommend the zebra bread (with coal and corn) as beautiful as good or the macaroons. As for the croissants, they are to die for! Listening to his customers, he adapts to their requests to concoct new recipes like this cookie without hazelnuts or almonds. At the top!

A bakery that stays busy from morning till night - doesn't that smell good? Both literally and figuratively! It's one of the best in Caen! Everything is delicious, from the Tradition to the honey sourdough baguette and the gluten-free recipe. Just a stone's throw from the port, you won't want to miss this electric blue storefront. Is it a case of crazy opening hours, three shifts or time running out? This is the address to remember, offering fresh bread and other delicacies to everyone, from Thursday morning to Sunday, whatever the time of day. What's more, the products are very good. How's that for a good plan?

51 years old, and it's still with the same greed that we stop in at La Brioche Chaude! Taken over at the end of 2021 by Anne Raffin, the store has had a major facelift, but has retained the recipes that have made it such a success. The queen of the store, the brioche in all its forms (including brioche bread for savoury dishes) is as soft as it gets, and well worth the detour. And that's not counting the mouth-watering breakfast menu. New since March 2024, the restaurant is a member of the artisan bakery association, so you're welcome to try its delicious breads! Bonus: it's open on Mondays!

"It's a beautiful novel, it's a beautiful story". La Biscuiterie was born in Caen in 1850, and almost disappeared. And now, since 2017, it's been labelled a "Living Heritage Company". Les Jeannette are nationally renowned, a fine renaissance and recognition! Madeleines are traditionally made in Colombelles, using fresh, preservative-free ingredients. From the original taste of Isigny PDO butter to the more exotic organic version, the madeleine has undoubtedly made a place for itself in the Normandy sun!

Foie gras, camembert, teurgoule, tomato-basil, cucumber... La Ferme de la Haizerie revolutionises the flavours of ice cream and sorbets! Don't worry, there is also sweetness: chestnut, gingerbread, violet, speculoos, rum-raisin, chocolate... Alain, pastry chef, also creates sorbets for diabetics, gluten-free sorbets and tailor-made ice creams. Guaranteed without colouring or preservatives, made from fresh fruit and good milk from the farm, his ice creams are on the menu of the best tables in the region. The farm is also open to visitors!

Quentin Rambaud, a young 24-year-old pastry chef, has opened this tempting store. Here, it's a return to simplicity, no more fuss and too many ingredients. No more than three flavours in his cakes and it's perfect. We like the Paris-Caen, which made the success of the address, a gourmet alliance between the macaroon and the famous Paris-Brest. The Pavlova and the Madagascar vanilla flan are sweets to be tested urgently! We also like the fast execution of orders and the idea that in the nice days the ice creams will be part of the party!

In a pretty cobbled lane, one of the oldest in Lisieux, a ^15th-century building houses Chocolaterie Mérimée, which celebrates its 14th anniversary in 2024. The exterior is just as magnificent as the interior. Gourmets will find what they're looking for. After a spell at Lenôtre, Emmanuel made his dream come true and opened his own chocolate factory, much to our delight. Here, everything melts! You can also enjoy an old-fashioned hot chocolate in the tearoom. An address we can't recommend highly enough.

In eastern Caen, in the "leavening sun", Pain Vivant is making its mark on the bread-making landscape. Here, Diego passionately blends boldness and tradition. Boldness, in his determination to work almost exclusively with short-distance suppliers, and in his choice of long fermentation. Tradition, for his wood-fired oven and his own mill, but also for the use of home-made natural sourdough. Our breads, brioches and viennoiseries have a taste for authenticity. Don't miss the vanilla flan or the New York rolls!

Don't be surprised if you come across people with chocolate moustaches or whipped cream on the tip of their noses! They are definitely coming from the Rue de la Mer! Even if it has changed name and owners (now Jérémy and Kelly), this gourmet meeting place, founded in 1910, remains very popular. The recipe for melting pancakes and crispy waffles remains the same as at Simard's. The trend is also towards bubble tea and homemade milkshakes. The season promises to be beautiful and tasty. Smart tip: collectable tickets for a free pancake or waffle.

In front of the village church you can supply yourself with brasillés. Do not hesitate to freeze to get back to your loved ones, if you are not at the corner: it's always good! Of course, the bakery also sells all kinds of breads and pastries, and the reception that is found there adds to its status as an essential one. Furthermore, it is possible to provide it in teurgoule, on pre-order.

Stepping through the door of this family-run bakery for the first time is almost a guarantee of a return visit, and not just for the warm, friendly welcome. Indeed, the breads, pastries and viennoiseries are well worth a trip away from the town centre. In the bakery, artisanal production is not an empty word. No frozen foods here! If we had to choose just a few of their little marvels, we'd have to mention their lemon meringue pie, their melt-in-the-mouth cookies or their large caponière.

Opened on the initiative of the APAEI (Association des Parents et Amis de Personnes Handicapées Mentales) in Caen, the store is run by disabled workers and sells products made in ESATs and CATs. We're crazy about this great Normandy house, founded by a family of chocolate makers from Granville in 1946. 70 years later, they had the bright idea of opening another store in Caen! Three generations of craftsmanship and a genuine passion for chocolate from father to son. Cédric has taken up the torch and is bringing a fresh approach with original, innovative recipes. Ganaches, pralines and specialties such as Rocs de Granville and Normandises are yours for the taking. Let yourself be tempted!

The address moves the gourmets. David, a specialist in "chocolate-pastry-macaroons", makes us melt with pleasure. "Here it's for the chocolate freaks! And here, everything, but absolutely everything, is homemade, with specialties such as apple with calvados coated with candy sugar, chocolate from the Pays d'Auge (Tatin-style apple ganache), ice creams, verrines, fruit jellies (wrongly left out, our grandmothers' sweets come back with reassuring naturalness), spreads... We can't resist. So to your tablets! Chocolate bars, of course.

It is the only boutique in Calvados dedicated to the excellent chocolate Beussent Lachelle, from the famous artisanal chocolate maker of the same long-standing name in Nord Pas de Calais, which offers a fine selection of fine candies based on large chocolate crus married to the ingredients sorted on the strand. A recipe for happiness!

As soon as you enter this promising little shop, you are torn between the colourful and well-stocked shelves and the smile of the saleswoman. About fifty varieties of jams will make your head spin and countless calvados, as the name of the shop announces, will add to your dizziness. The jams are the work of Dame Rhubarbe, a good fairy who officiates a stone's throw from Honfleur, and who only buys her nectars from local producers. Stop on the flower of salt milk jam, much more subtle than salted butter caramel and definitely divine! Calvados are also more than fifty in number, divided between the Domfront tradition - a blend of pear and apple -, the Pays d'Auge PDOs with double distillation, and the classic and essential single-distillation calvados. From this visit, we keep a sweet taste: we dipped our finger in the jars or almost, and the welcome leaves a smile on our lips.

A bakery that is popular with all ages, from the child who comes to fill their pockets with sweets, to the pensioner who on Sunday mornings buys his baguette, passing through high school students who love a "global excluded": "banestine", a house specialty whose ingredients vary according to the moods of Jérôme, the boss. Located on rue Claude-Chappe, look out for the sign visible right in front of the Malherbe Stadium! Do not hesitate to make a stop, you will be updated with news!

In 2021, Camille and Nicolas Barbet, already present in the Petit Futé with Récréation Sucrée, rue Henry-Chéron, took over this bakery-pastry shop. From now on, they also offer their loyal customers old-fashioned bread with top-of-the-range flour. Everything is homemade, and the pastry evolves with the fruits of the season. Lisieux, the capital of the Pays d'Auge, the second city of pilgrimage in France, is not only the city of Sainte-Thérèse; it is also a gourmet city!

On the shopping street of Général-de-Gaulle, opposite the town hall and the Villers market, this bakery-pastry shop, which was taken over in April 2021, continues to attract a regular clientele. People still come here for the varied traditional breads, the croutons for its fish soup, and the crispy baguette, called "la Villersoise". The address plays the good classic, just like the pastries: Paris-Brest, flan, meringue, nun... Without forgetting the window dedicated to the creations of Michel Cluizel, famous chocolate maker settled in Damville since 1948.

CAP in her pocket, passionate and really gifted with her hands, she specialised in cake design and number cake, these very elaborate cakes with a lot of decorations for the pleasure of the eyes and the taste buds! So all right, this bakery is franchised, but that doesn't take away the artisanal aspect of the products. Breads made on-site every day with traditional French flour, without additives, it's already quite good, isn't it? A real top model of bakers' plates that this Paris-Brest (created by Gaëtan Paris, the best worker in France), in its crunchy, soft, golden, authentic crust. Valérie and her husband Jean-François Lemoisson have been in the profession for generations. Her parents had a bakery in Trouville. The Lemoisson family has always been in the hotel-restaurant business - his great-grandmother had even created Hotel Notre-Dame in Bayeux. After several years of training and work in renowned establishments (Bernachon in Lyon, palaces in Switzerland, Caen… among others), they returned to the countryside, "where the great uncle was a colonel of the fire brigade." If you step into this esteemed place of gourmet sweets, you will succumb to some works of art that you will hardly dare to put in your mouth. Saint Ouen (almond meringue with nougatine cream) and the Royal (layered praline with chocolate foam) are two specialties among pastries and other sweet creations that will not leave your taste buds indifferent. Real wonders! Consider "Lemoisson" for your family celebrations!

The story began in 1877. The Witness family is located in the heart of Caen. Master chocolate makers from generation to generation, Witnesses passed the torch in 2007 to Étienne Dolfi (famous for its confectionery establishments at the Mother of Family). However, the original sign has been preserved as well as the specialties of the house: The Toucan (hazelnut pralines with cocoa curved nougatine), True Normands (with calvados), Ladies of Caen (orange paste with orange-flavoured grapes) and of course Caen Bisous (pink chocolate in the form of a mouth, white chocolate foam also flavoured with calvados). Yes, we are well in Normandy and the flagship alcohol of the department is to honour, but rest assured here, it complements and does not overwhelm! And when the winter season arrives, you'll have the opportunity to buy their delicious frozen marestas, certainly they are not cheap, but considering the quality and the short production time of this delicacy, it would be a sacrilege to miss out on it!

Here you'll find confectionery and products from the Chocolaterie du Drakkar. Among the specialties: Bayeux chocolate (hazelnut coated with dark chocolate from Madagascar), Drakkar (a funny little potato shape, but a meringue mousse with praline to die for), Duc Guillaume (with Calvados) and Cans-cans. The latter, dedicated, according to legend, to chatty gourmets visiting the chocolate factory, form a trio of fine champagne ganache, raisin and rum marzipan and Cointreau praline. The list goes on... In 2006, Mr. and Mrs. Hurel opened a small chocolate museum in Nonant (Bayeux exit, opposite Janjac, you can't miss it). The museum is upstairs, the store on the first floor, with a view of the laboratory... How can you resist? It's fine and can be eaten without hunger.

No matter where you are, no matter what your hunger - small or large - this is as important as it is welcome. In the heart of the city centre or in front of the Zenith, the quality is the same. For our part, we are looking for Saint-Pierre Street where the choice is a little more varied and a warmer frame. The building has been hosted by the bakers for a hundred years and has kept its stamp, almost smells. Exposed stones, chandeliers, panelling, a large fireplace, old-fashioned tiles, the shop is of the greatest effect. It contains the entire range: breads (several cooking in the day, which make it possible to have croissants all the time), the fougasses, the benoitons, the sandwiches (can be eaten on the ground with the formula of the debout), the pastries (the sugar pie… yum), the small salted or sweet furnaces and other pastries (chocolate fluffy, really mellow). The second shop established at 5, rue Eugène Maës (also accessible by Detolle boulevard) makes tobacco and is well-deserved. It must be said that in this famous house, they know how to make bread, so taste the crisp wand Father Toulorge (wheat, malt, and leaven flour) or the Zélie with three crusts and its flour with the delicate hazelnut taste to convince you. In the case of pastries with Isigny PDO butter or pastries, you can only recommend them too: Sumatra (brownie biscuits, feuilletine, creamy and black chocolate foam) and the other 3 chocolates are excellent, the Tahiti with exotic sweetness (Bavarian vanilla and white chocolate, red fruit jelly, and pistachio biscuit) will delight you and not to mention the delicate dessert cassis purple, in the shape of the ear, enhanced by a white cheese point, if not pleasantly surprised by its taste buds. For a quick and cheap meal - useful when time is running - the midi formula with a sandwich, drink, and dessert proves to be a very efficient and smart plan. Think about it...

With a shop and a workshop located in Lisieux, Emmanuel and Emmanuelle had the good idea to extend their fame to Pont-l'Evêque. The chocolates come straight from their artisanal factory in Lisieux, where visits to the workshop are organised, allowing you to discover the secrets of their specialities. The praline macaroon made with soaps remains their undeniable success, but they are constantly renewing their gourmet creativity: chocolate and pure alcohol, nougat almond pastes and a new box called "Pont-l'Evêque", which is presented as a box of cheese to share. More than forty kinds of chocolates to make and create personalised compositions in this small chewable address. Their passion is unfailing and their chocolates will melt the amateurs.

Here is a great original concept! Camille, a young dynamic woman with a passion for history, wants to make you discover historical pastries with a staging and decorations that make you travel in time. From the ^XIVth to the ^XIXth century, the range is wide and allows all the fantasies, you will discover forgotten recipes (or not!) which were at the time the chic of the chic. We explain to you why the ingredients appear and disappear, the spices are home-made and the lady has a garden of medieval plants! Yum!
