WEDDING PALACE
Read moreOn the left bank of the Kura in Issani (after Avlabari to the east), is the monstrous and eccentric palace of Marriages which was the office of civil ceremonies in Soviet times. It is omnipresent in the landscape in this part of the city, on both sides of the Kura. It was completed in 1984, incorporating vaguely the silhouette of a church. In the 1990 s, he was sold to the sulfureux Sulfureux Sulfureux Billionaire, who was deceased, who made his residence in Georgia. Since 2009, the palace has become a municipal office for weddings.

MOHAMMED ALI PALACE
Read moreThis beautiful palace built from 1808 to 1821 was designed by Pascal Coste, French architect. Located in the middle of what was once a large garden, three palaces were built: that of the fountain, that of the mountain and that of the tower. The best known of them is the fountain of the fountain (saraya el-fasqiya). As a square, a large basin is surrounded by a colonnade framed at its four corners of decorated pavilions, hosting the dining room, the Arab lounge, billiards and the Royal Lounge. There were sumptuous feasts and a boat on the pond. Another fun palace, called the mountain palace, looks like a six-degree pyramid, whose terraces are planted with trees.

DENIS-DIDEROT HIGH SCHOOL
Read moreBuilt between 1985 and 1990 on the plans of Bui Quien Quoc, the construction uses very favourably the glass and light, to create a very well ventilated, airy architecture. The spacious building has a very contemporary aspect, with its iron staircases shaped by large tubes. The construction was not obvious because it was an extension of high school, which had a large field, and that it was not necessary to disturb the courses. The building contrasts in this western quarter of the city with towers.

STATION OF HAYDARPAŞA
Read moreMonumental in appearance with its immense facade, it was completed in 1908 by two German architects and more than 1,000 Italian stonemasons. This is where trains departed for Ankara, the East or the Southeast. In 2015, the station is no longer in operation and becomes a museum and exhibition space. In any case, it is possible to visit it and sit at the station café for tea, coffee or even a full meal. For an unforgettable sunset, go on the steps, facing the sea, at nightfall.
HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE
Read moreOn an-Nasr's left wing, the High Court of Justice occupies the former seraglio of Ibrahim Pasha. The seraglio of the last Ottoman governors (headquarters of the current Ministry of the Interior), not far from Merjé square, facing the Hotel Kertaja, dates back to 1900.
From the telephone station, you can admire the lovely facade of the headquarters of the Société des eaux El-Fijé, which feeds Damascus into drinking water. Finally, the Hijaz station, built in 1913, retains a ceiling painted in the purest damascene style, in very good condition.
THE ARAB CASTLE
Read moreFrom the Diocletian's camp (or city), it is possible to win the top of the mountain, which is dominated by the impressive Arab castle, but the ascent is aimed at the athletes and the brave because it is quite difficult. It is recommended that you do it at the cool hours (sunrise or sunset).
A good road bypassing the mountain makes it possible to win the castle by car. The view from the castle divide embraces all the ruins, oasis and tombs. At sunset, the remains are the parent of a subtle draped colour contrasting with the deep green of the oasis. The castle seems to be less impressive than the ruins. Often associated with a th-century Amir of the th century (Fakhr ed-Din), who allegedly said that he was a sling of sling against the Ottoman Empire, the castle came to the th or th centuries, as did the fortification of the temple of Bêl.
THEATER AND CITADEL OF BOSRA
Read moreFrom the Birket Al-Hajj, the citadel quickly wins. From the outside, nothing leaves the wonderful monument hanging behind its high walls. A deep ditch, a drawbridge bridge and eight massive square towers form defence. Archères are set in machicolated walls and surmounted by round paths. Most of the works date back to the ayyoubide era and are the initiative of Malik al-Adil, the brother of Saladin. Only the semi-circular form has what intrigue.
Past a few dark galleries, the visitor leads to the interior of a perfectly preserved Roman theatre. " A military theatre, certainly more than it needed to excite our archeological curiosity, "noted the French traveller Guillaume Rey in 1854. At that time, the interior was still crowded with a mosque and an arsenal.
After lengthy work that lasted until 1947, which allowed the passage of stands and passages, the theatre finally revived.
So it was its strong conversion, undertaken from the time of omeyyade, which finally allowed it to keep it intact: it is only the theatre of Aspendos (in Turkish territory) that is in such an exceptional state of conservation.
Its construction dates back to the middle of the th century. The three rows of 14, 18 and 5 gradins are perfectly preserved. They allowed for 9 000 spectators. Its diameter of 100 m holds it in the third place of the theatres of Syria, after Apamea and Cyrrhus.
But unlike those two, this theater is not standing on a hill. A complex network of galleries located in the service always allows access to the stands. From the proskenion (stage), where the actors unfold, we walk through a few steps to the orchestra where the choir was held. Behind the proskenion, the décor is treated as a three-storey palace facade. Only the decoration of the first level remains, with its columns to the corinthians capitals. Ultimate refinement, a silk vélum was stretched over the spectators to protect them from the sun's zeal in summer and the fine rain of the winter. The great curtain referred to the public in fine droplets the scented water that was evaporating.
