80 m deep well with double pumping system powered by animals turning the traditional sakieh.
A great work of military engineering of Salah el-Din in 1183, this 80 m deep well watered the citadel thanks to a double pumping system, operated by the force of animals that turned the traditional "sakieh", the serrated wheel. It is said that the oxen that used to turn the wheel stayed there until their deaths, a sad fate... Slightly salty, the water that came out of it was precious in case of siege or fire. A staircase leads to it.
