The main shopping street of the city of Venice.

Past the arch of the Clock Tower, here is the old commercial district of Venice. This area, located between San Marco and the Rialto district, is divided into Merceria dell'Orologio, Merceria di San Zulian and Merceria di San Salvatore. It is the main shopping street of the city, a maze of busy calli and callette, lined with shops of varying degrees of interest, some of which are said to be a little too touristy and expensive. This is unfortunate, because in the Doges' time, everything was sold here.
