On Jean-Jaurès Square, there is a restaurant that you cannot miss: the Poteaux Carrés.. Named after the crossbar which led to a defeat during the European Cup championship clubs in ASSE, the restaurant offers traditional cuisine and has not less than 90 seats inside and 200 outside. The staff is friendly, and many famous people - stephanoises or not - have lunch or dinner there. They served complete menus. All dishes are homemade with products of good quality and are bought in the best shops of the city and the surrounding area: Pécresse, Cornand, Weiss, the barn of ice-creams... From the reception to the bill, no flaw and attention to every details at any time to make our mealtime a magical moment. With colleagues, groups, family (children are very well received, congratulations) or two as lovers, the dining room suits all needs. Like the menu, where Cédric Boutroux invites us to discover flavours from elsewhere, but also highlights local products. Culinary journey with Caribbean cod fritters, prawn spring rolls, or a Serrano Trevélez raw ham. Lyon return with a beautiful pan-fried veal liver or the Bresse chicken roasted on a spit. Italian pastas an a minute de thon albacore with Asian flavours. Do not miss the wonderful waffles or the Vacherin with red berries. Wine list accordingly. A cosy atmosphere and a view of the lake. This house has been in existence since 1925. It was taken over in March 2018 by Julien Morel, a professional chef, frequent traveller and gastronomy entrepreneur from the Riviera of the Alps. He intends to offer a simple and good homemade seasonal cuisine, made from local and artisanal products, selected for their taste, freshness and quality. And if you like the address, you can stay in one of the 15 rooms renovated like a fisherman's cabin on the lake.

Of course, if you are told that homemade lasagna are among the best we have eaten and that Chile is of the same ilk, it is a first incentive to get out of your home. But the real reason that will make you go to the plateau, to this neighborhood bistro that has been in place for a long time in the middle of the cross of the Croix-Rousse, is that it has been renovated with a lot of taste by a true roussien that makes it a spirit of conviviality as you love them. On the benches of the large hall, on the colourful chairs of the large terrace, sheltered in the adjoining rooms, you also enjoy a warm welcome. Whether you're a market day for refreshment, ice or drink, or you're setting up for a full and generous meal, the smile is always the same and it's not uncommon to share its good mood with neighbors. A true bistro to the free food that cultivates something rare: happiness.

This Nord (French for "North") is quite relative, since it is located in the heart of the Lyon Peninsula. The first brasserie open by Paul Bocuse - already 23 years ago with the takeover of Le Nord, famous Lyon brasserie inaugurated in 1907 by Edouard Herriot - is thus in a side street, within walking distance from Rue de République. One of the signatures of the Brasseries Bocuse is the verandas that allow you to enjoy the show of a little dark street throughout the year. You will undoubtedly prefer the traditional and cordial room. As usual, flawless reception and service to offer us the opportunity to taste "traditional", like the place. The upper floor offers private lounges where it is pleasant to discuss with colleagues or in family in a cosy atmosphere. You settle down on the red seats and you discover the specialties of an almost unchanging menu that are, according to the seasons, the sauerkraut and the Burgundy snails with parsley butter. Here, the cuisine known as "middle-class" is in its kingdom and you come to enjoy the suggestions of the Chef Franck Barrouilhet: warm sausage with pistachio in brioche, duck foie gras terrine, a mix of griddled fillets of market fish, a pike quenelle with lobster sauce, the chicken fricassee of calf kidneys with mustard... Without forgetting the Grandmother waffles which have contributed to the reputation of the place. A very classic address, in the best sense of the word.

From the station of Brotteaux and its amazing decor, we look towards Dombes and Bresse. A brasserie with a refined buffet station's setting with a small advertising train going around the room and many "attractions" which make this place a truly "different" one. One of the breweries at the cardinal points on behalf of Paul Bocuse and one of the most convivial. Chef Cyril Marlard prepares great classic with a Caesar salad of the East, a Bömlo salmon marinated in Scandinavian way, a very delicious homemade foie gras cooked in earthenware or the Lyon-style pan-fried thinly sliced veal liver, veal liver in Lyon's way, the Bresse chicken roasted on a pit, without missing the very traditional rum baba. A serious address as all the Bocuse brasseries.

This restaurant-pub-brasserie can receive more than 250 guests, almost half of them on the terrace. To meet all your expectations, a team of about people is at your disposal. A varied map is offered to you: salads, flammekueches, tartars and carpaccios… and serving: ice cream, soft chocolate, vacherin fruit… Large sporting events are broadcast on eight screens, including two giants, theme nights are regularly organised: karaoke, concerts, salsa, years 80… What a good time!

The most southern cardinal point of the brasseries Bocuse is at the height of the place Bellecour, on another place oriented towards the Rhône heading to the Mediterranean. It is true that Confluence moved the Sud (French for "south") closer to the forefront of the Peninsula, but this brasserie is always part of the most prominent ones in Lyon. Pleasant terrace and wide veranda open on a green and lively place with an always impeccable service and reception, what we appreciate above all is the regularity of an address which never disappoints. At Le Sud, you are received every day and late with the same smile and the same quality in cuisine. In the kitchen, Gérard Lasne always offers a cuisine of the sun according to the arrivals, with the famous suggestions of the market around a whole piece roasted on the spit, a fish according to the fishing and tagine of the day. The menu recites its classics to satisfy every appetite: Marseille-style fisherman's soup, Bömlo salmon marinated with dill, tarte pissaladière, a Provençal octopus stew, a pot of fish in bouillabaisse, couscous-style lamb shank or a chicken tagine with lemon confit. After the traditional Saint-Marcellin cheese of Mère Richard, summer offers us the opportunity to vary the pleasures with the minute vacherin with fresh fruits. A sure address with southern look.

Ô Corso is a gourmet address not to be missed in Firminy. The brand offers two concepts in the same place: a first room where tapas are served and a second reserved for the traditional restaurant. The staff, with great care, will be able to guide you according to your desires. The cuisine is of high quality and the dishes are very appetizing. It's hard to choose among the 4 starters and 4 main courses offered in the same menu! Exhaustive, the menu will convince all taste buds: 7 o'clock lamb, homemade burger, duck leg, shrimp tartare, cappuccino mushrooms... Fresh and copious dishes, impeccable service, affordable prices, Ô Corso is all about great.

With its red facade, you can't miss this restaurant! In a modern and chic setting, the Garagna offers a brasserie-style cuisine made from fresh produce. Good dishes such as the egg casserole with seafood, duck breast, hake fillet with a vervain white butter or the butcher's room and its homemade fries. The menu also includes homemade burgers and grated food to compose yourself, the signature of the house. Desserts will seduce lovers of fruit, chocolate and caramel. The menus are complete and copious. Pleasant!

One of the reference addresses of the city, not only in the "brasserie" category but also simply restaurant, since Silk is much more than a brewery in our opinion. Built in the luxurious Sofitel hotel, Silk benefits from the tranquillity of the places, yet only steps from Place Bellecour and the hyper-centre of the peninsula. A both classic and completely atypical place with its decor that immerses us in the universe "vintage" of the 70s to the brilliant colours on a neutral background and in the universe of silk (which gives the name to the establishment). Between chic bistro, elegant brasserie and elegant restaurant, Silk is for everyone and not only the 5-star hotel high profile clientele. Best-in-class, refined and convivial service, beautiful home which is really hospitable, and a high quality cuisine which also fluctuates between the brasserie tradition with oysters, a Lyon salad, a famous 100% beef tartare, homemade burgers, one of which is truffle or a fresh salmon tartar, and the nice food service with roasted cod fillet, delicious roasted scallops or a rack of lamb and its pan-fried seasonal vegetables. Mother Richard cheese and a vanilla brioche with speculoos ice-cream. Other must-eat of the house: the omelet as you want it and the terrible chicken Sandwich Club. Beautiful wine list, grand crus, for a harmonious wine and meal pairing.
