It is not easy to find a decent local restaurant in Aswan without finding oneself in the big hotels of the city. The al-Masri restaurant is a good alternative to the big hotels. There are more locals than tourists, which is a good sign! We eat there pretty quickly.

Even if you don't eat it (although traditional food is good), take an Nubian coffee to cardamom, a chicha, a good book, and you won't tire out what you're staring at.

The restaurant Cléopatra is one of the few restaurants in the city of Noueiba. It is one of the most popular tourist establishments. Although the appetizer does not look like much, the traditional Egyptian and Lebanese dishes on offer, as well as the western dishes, are worth it. Very clean. Kitsch decoration. The place is perfect for a lunch break between two activities, sightseeing or sea. The owner, Mr. Ayman Ali, speaks perfect English and will give you a warm welcome.

Large stained glass and wood windows. Bel establishment. Her spinach is a real treat! Its rosemary chicken, the curry chicken and the banana. If you can, take a table along the Nile.

The favourite address of the late Georges Moustaki. A little off-centre, this restaurant has its feet in the water, on the sandy beach. Exceptional setting from which this traditional address benefits, serving plates essentially turned towards the sea. Great choice of charcoal-grilled fish including giant melting shrimps and absolutely delicious crabs. Ideal for a late lunch in the sun but to be avoided in winter, as it is cold. Following a change of ownership, the restaurant no longer serves alcohol.

More refined than most restaurants, Samakmak's cuisine knows just how to dose the quantities of oil, even in the fried dishes, which is rare enough to be noticed! Excellent prawns cooked to perfection and the mezze preceding the main course are just as succulent. Wine and beer are served, which is rare in Anfouchi restaurants. Simple setting, friendly atmosphere and particularly cheerful service.

What's more, a very pleasant terrace awaits gourmands upstairs, just a few steps from the marina. Special mention for the toilets, the cleanest in town. A good address, excellent cuisine and attentive service: we recommend this place!

In the evening, the hotel manager makes pizzas to take, shrimp, anchovies, mushrooms and lots of pepper if you don't care. They are good and come at a very opportune time when they stay in a rented house but you don't want to cook!

A small ndaxté.

Facing the service station, this restaurant with a terrace at the entrance is, along with the restaurant El-Jwebia (at the exit of Nalout), an obligatory passage of tourists on their route to Ghadamès. The owner is a Moroccan who serves good couscous or tajines.
