Plaimpied-Givaudins is located 12 kilometers south of Bourges and 25 kilometers from Bruère-Allichamps (the famous "center" of France). The Berry canal runs through the commune. Formerly divided into two separate communes, Plaimpied and Givaudins, it was united into a single commune in 1842 by royal decree. It boasts a number of tourist attractions, including the 11th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Martin, part of the former abbey and the Val d'Auron lake. It is also an ideal base for exploring the Auron valley. Its municipal park is quite attractive. The commune has a population of around 2,000.
