Chârost is classified as part of the country of Issoudun. The origins of this village go back to the bronze age. From the Middle Ages, there are the ruins of the castle with a piece of its enclosure but above all its church. One of the most illustrious owners of the land of Chârost was, in the seventeenth century, Armand Joseph de Béthune-Chârost. In the region, we are familiar with the name of this commune located about twenty kilometers west of Bourges for the sweet sweet cakes that are manufactured there: the delicious crosses of Chârost. But there is also another flagship product in the region: the green lens of Berry. On the cultural front, you can admire the church of Saint-Michel, which dates from the late xiith century or the beginning of the thirteenth century: unique nef building, it was in the Middle Ages an addiction of the Abbey Notre-Dame d 'Issoudun. She then became a collegial collegiate in 1456 in the chapter of Saint-Cyr of Issoudun, Chârost having always been very dependent on Issoudun since the lords of Chârost were vassals of the lords of Issoudun. The castle of Chârost, in the xie and xive centuries, overlooks the valley of Arnon. A monument to the bicentennial of the Revolution, a cross road, a lace and a tower built by Augustin Lamy complement the tourist attraction of the commune.
