Le Guerno, whose name means marsh in Celtic, is a place of authentic serenity. Listed as a "rural heritage village" since 1994, it boasts many restored Breton houses. It is also an important pilgrimage site. The village's crowning jewel is undoubtedly the remarkable Templar church, rebuilt in the 16th century. If you take the fork in the road to the right of the town hall, you'll find the Sainte-Anne fountain with its wash-house and, 200 m further on, the Sainte-Marie fountain, both dating from the 18th century. The Sainte-Anne fountain is one of the most beautiful in Brittany, with its granite columns and fragile false appearance. Tradition attributes it with the ability to cure skin infections. Le Guerno has retained the charm that makes it one of the prettiest villages in Morbihan. In 2020, it was awarded the prestigious "Village fleuri trois fleurs" label. The charm of this small village will win you over, with its stone buildings, gray roofs, colorful shutters and windows, and welcoming inhabitants (it's not for nothing that the commune was awarded the "Prix de l'Accueil" in 2009!). In summer, be sure to visit the church, as guided tours are organized from July to August. Admire the14th-century murals and majestic 16th-century stained-glass windows of this listed church. For animal lovers, the Branféré animal park is a must!
