The village takes its name from a missionary disciple of Saint Gildas, who lived in the area with the latter in the 6th century. To the west of the village is the chapel of Saint-Gildas (access via Brioldy). It stands at the foot of the Castennec promontory, close to the river and backed by a huge boulder. Take a stroll along the promontory to admire the view of the Blavet. Don't miss the 16th-century Saint-Bieuzy fountain. It was reputed to have curative powers against rabies. Notre-Dame church was built in 1560 in a flamboyant neo-Gothic style, with a nave ending in a three-gabled chevet.
