A small seaside village, it has been part of Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine for over a century. An obligatory stop on the way to Gaspé, it's famous for its lighthouse overlooking the St. Lawrence (museum open to the public) and for its Grand Sault waterfall and the world's longest underground salmon run (accessible via chemin du Grand Sault from the Rivière-la-Madeleine sector). In the Madeleine-Centre area, the famous Shack à guédilles (lobster shack) attracts large crowds during the summer months, offering lobster - and more - with a breathtaking view of the sea.
