In the Gotse Delchev district, the preserved village of Delchevo is perched in the Pirin mountain. From here, you can go hiking on 4-12 km long footpaths with beautiful views. The ruined houses in Delchevo are gradually being bought up by the inhabitants of Sofia and restored as second homes or guest houses, as are some of the villagers who have emigrated. The orchards of old varieties of apples and pears give excellent fruit. A few goats and sheep provide the milk for good yoghurt. We sit at the restaurant at the entrance of the village overlooking the valley.
