To the west of La Ponga Park, Las Redes Natural Park covers 376.2 km² and is a medium to high mountain area with a peak of 2,104 m (Pico Torres). The lowest part of the park is about 400 m above sea level, but 80% of the territory is above 800 m. Declared a natural park in 1996, it offers a wide range of landscapes: large valleys opened up by the passage of rivers, such as the Nalón river which crosses it, fertile plains or mountains covered with forests. Extremely preserved, this space is part of the biosphere zone since 2001. The aim of this area is to preserve the ecosystems of the Cantabrian mountain range. The wolves and the Cantabrian brown bear cross it and you will be able to observe golden eagles and the famous Urogallo. It is an area particularly suitable for hiking, one of the best known being the ruta de Brañagallones, accessible to good walkers (slopes of more than 30%), but also by taxi, for others
