A picturesque village at the foot of the Montseny, Cardedeu boasts a rich heritage, starting with the cosmopolitan archive collection of the Arxiu Tomàs Balvey Museum. Crafted crockery and forgotten tools share the limelight with the original 17th-century apothecary's dispensary, where you can learn more about the curative properties of plants, of which the garden abounds. A pleasant detour to the Noucentista municipal cemetery built around 1920 by Manuel Joaquim Raspall (a disciple of Domènech i Montaner) will then allow us to appreciate picturesque tombs, serene under the shady vault of the trees. It is to the same man that we owe some of the sensational modernist villas dotting the streets of the village, once summer homes of Barcelona's bourgeoisie. A sumptuous legacy to be observed following the modernist route of Cardedeu. In October, the village celebrates this heritage during the "Modernist Days".
