St Germans is the first village you come across between Plymouth and Looe, after just half an hour's drive. The village is your first introduction to the charm of Cornwall. It boasts a beautiful Romanesque church built in the local grey stone, and is well worth a stop with its asymmetrical towers. One is octagonal, the other square. Observe its Romanesque portal, non-figurative, stylized with geometric motifs. Behind it lies a fabulous garden. Inside, the church features colorful 19th-century stained-glass windows and an original double nave. Around the church, charming little houses in dark stone.
