The Lizard Peninsula is one of Cornwall's natural gems, and the most southerly part of the country, with its famous Lizard Point. The area is home to many rare plant species, as well as a distinctive greenish rock: serpentine rock. Beautiful hiking trails criss-cross the coastline, notably on the famous South West Coast Path, which covers the entire southwest of the country. If summer offers the ideal weather, coming here out of season has an inimitable charm. Autumn is even the best time to watch migratory birds. Dolphins, small sharks and seals can sometimes be seen on the coast.
